Reeths-Puffer Middle School was honored to welcome Martin Lowenberg, a Holocaust survivor and educator to Rocket City today.
Lowenberg is a Michigan native who lost his parents and younger twin brothers in the Auschwitz Concentration Camp. He spent several years moving between (5) different work camps until finally being liberated in 1945. Now 91 years old, Martin Lowenberg continues his life mission to educate others about the atrocities of the Holocaust, and to stand against intolerance. He gives lectures that detail his life experiences as well as spreads the message of love, hope and perseverance. The event was hosted & facilitated by Mrs. Mitchelson (R-PMS Counselor) and "Calling All Colors"- a student group that focus on the topic of diversity in our school and world. The R-PMS Treble Makers were invited to perform at the end of the event as a response to Mr. Lowenburg's presentation. What a memorable day with a message we will not soon forget!

The 2019-20 R-PMS Treble Makers had a great first rehearsal kicking off the new year today!
Excited for lots of great music-making and friendship building ahead! Our annual Choir/Theatre Monster Mash Skating Bash was another smashing success last night at Jumpin' Jupiter Skating Rink!
Not only did (250) RPI & MS students and parents have a great time skating, but the owners shared that this is one of their favorite events each year thanks to our student creativity in costuming as well as stellar conduct at their rink. WOW! What an awesome compliment to our Rocket Singers and Thespians! #Go Green #RocketCityFineArts October 2019
Hey Choir Gals! A select singing opportunity is coming your way! The Treble Makers is an audition-only treble voice singing ensemble that gives interested singers an opportunity to perform challenging, competitive-level repertoire, make new friends and enjoy music. Here is what you need to know about this special opportunity:
Auditions: ~After school, Tuesday, October 22nd from 3-5PM in the RPMS Choir Room ~Auditioning students will need to arrange rides home from school ~Results will be announced on Wednesday, October 23rd and permission slips to participate will be sent home and due by the 1st Rehearsal on 10/29! Practice Dates/Time Commitment: The Treble Makers is a voluntary, extra-curricular opportunity. Since it is a “above and beyond” experience, we are trying to create a sense of pride and commitment. Students hoping to be part of the group will need to attend all of the following after school rehearsals and performance dates. Fall Rehearsal Commitment (leading to Christmas Concert):
Early Spring Commitment (leading to Solo and Ensemble Festival/Festival of Choirs Concert):
Performance Attire:
In the past, the group has been approached to perform at other events in addition to the ones listed above. Anything in addition to the pre-stated dates will be considered optional. Permission Slips: Due to the skill level and high level of commitment that is required by participating in a group of this nature, selected students will be asked to sign and return a permission slip to participate. Permission Slips must be signed and returned by the 1st Rehearsal on 10/29. If you cannot attend rehearsal consistently (Example: I have to miss all of January, I can only attend half of each rehearsal due to ____), the Treble Makers opportunity may not be a good fit for you at this time. Rehearsals @ RPMS: Treble Maker Rehearsal will be held in the RPMS Choir Room each week and will need to arrange for transportation home. Please contact Mrs. Ross with questions. We all know what amazing performers our R-PMS Students are ON the stage...but what does it take to MAKE the stage?
Here are some behind the scenes photos of the Fall Ya'll Variety Show coming to life! Dear R-P,
On October 12th & 13th the The Penguin Project® in partnership with No More Sidelines, took to the stage at the Muskegon Frauenthal Theatre to perform a modified version of "Peter Pan JR". This production was unique because all of the roles are filled by children with developmental disabilities including Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, visual impairment, hearing impairment, and other neurological disorders. They were joined on stage by their “peer mentors”, a group of children the same age without disabilities, who have volunteered to work with them side-by-side and guide them through 4 months of rehearsals and the final production. If you had a chance to attend, you know what a beautiful, moving and joyous experience it was to see kids set free to soar. Please enjoy some pictures from the show and join me in congratulating the following R-P Students:
Good job Penguins! Reeths-Puffer Homecoming = Rocket City United! (350) 5th-12th grade Singers, HS Marching Band, Football Team, Cross Country Team, Cheerleaders, Homecoming Court, hyped up family, friends and fans... what a great evening together!! Thanks to the Parent Volunteers willing to jump in an wrangle students amidst the chaos. There were a LOT of things going on and your willingness to be present meant a lot! |
