Fall is in full swing here in the Choir & Theatre Arts room & our annual kick-off event is fast approaching!
Our Taste of the Arts Event has a 2-fold purpose: (1) Our singers & actors have the opportunity to perform for the first time in 2 years for our Rocket Community & (2) The admission & food truck proceeds help us to cover costs associated with running the Choir & Theatre program: staffing, supplies such as scripts & music, & trip/camp scholarships for the coming school year. It’s a Concert, Fundraiser & Fall Carnival in ONE! TASTE OF THE ARTS EVENT DETAILS:
ADMISSION AT THE DOOR: (will receive wristbands)
ENJOY DELICIOUS TREATS FROM: G&L, The Soul Filled Eatery, Wypa’s Wood-fired Pizza, Tikki Boiz, North Grove Drive-In Favorites, Yodels & Smitten Mitten Ice Pops! PERFORMER ATTIRE: All performing students should wear their new Choir or Theatre T-Shirts (handed out in class), their best blue/black jeans, black legging or black joggers (no holes) & comfortable footwear that allows for movement. PARTICIPATION/PERFORMANCE = CLASS GRADE Choir & Theatre are performance-based classes. Concerts/events are a required portion of a student’s participation grade. Students will be expected to attend the Performance portion of the evening (approx. 5:30-6:30PM including check-in/warm-up/performance). Following the performance, students will either go to their assigned volunteer posts for the remainder of the evening, or, can enjoy the festivities until they choose to leave. Students will be expected to make a plan with their parents/guardians for rides home. If a student cannot attend the Taste of the Arts event due to a conflict or illness, please contact Mrs. Ross per the RPMS Choir Handbook/Theatre Syllabus you received at the beginning of the school year. HELPFUL INFO FOR THE NIGHT: As this is a newer event for our program, we are hoping that logistics run smoothly so our students and families have a great experience. Here are a few FYIs that will hopefully make the experience enjoyable for all.
Sing-cerely, Deidra Ross R-PMS Choral and Theatre Arts

Dear Choir & Theatre Arts Families,
For 10 years, the students at R-PMS have enjoyed performing in a spring musical theatre production. The shows gained support and grew in scale over the years until COVID shut-down our 2020 production of "Hairspray the Musical". After a 2-year hiatus from live-stage productions...the R-PMS Choir & Theatre Department would like to announce that the plan for our 2022 Spring Production will be....High School Musical JR! We are cautiously optimistic that the show will move forward with Auditions taking place in February, rehearsals starting in March and (3) shows for the Rocket City community on April 29th & 30th 2022. The students enjoyed getting clues about the show each day this week with a final reveal on Friday. Stay tuned for more details on the musical in the coming weeks & months. Mark your Calendars! We can't wait to be "all in this together" in April 2022! Hello R-PMS Choir Families! This year we are continuing the tradition of performing the National Anthem & Fight Song at the Homecoming game on Friday, October 8th. Additionally, we get the wonderful opportunity to perform with the Intermediate & High School choirs, AND the HS Marching Band, on the football field... in front of a MASSIVE audience! GO ROCKETS! PERFORMANCE ATTIRE: Black R-PMS Choir Shirt, long pants (preferably black or denim), other Rocket Flair (Scarves, Hair Accessories, etc). They may bring jackets/hoodies, long-Sleeves may be worn UNDER the shirt, but students must be wearing the t-shirt visibly on & off the field during the performance! ADMISSION: Singers get into the game for FREE. (We love free things!) Attending adults, friends and family members will be charged normal admission if they wish to attend SCHEDULE: Friday, 10/8
NOTE for R-P CHEERLEADERS: If you are both a Cheerleader & a Choir Student, please plan to wear your CHEER uniform to the Game. Mrs. Ross will be working closely with Cheer Coaches to come up with a plan so cheerleaders can participate in both the Choir Performance as well as cheer at the game. CHAPERONES NEEDED: Please read, complete & return the attached sheet (SEE BELOW) by 10/1 if you are able to help Chaperone! Questions? Mrs. Ross: [email protected] ![]()
Dear Choir Families, We had a GREAT turn-out at our Fall Choir Parent Meeting! In case you missed the meeting & would like to know more about the MS Choir Program as well as ways to Volunteer, please check out the following links:
Our most urgent Volunteer needs are coming up on October 7/8 (Homecoming Chaperones) and the BIGGIE...October 14th (Fall Food Truck Festival). Please take a few moments to read through (I know it's a LOT as it covers the entire year) & don't hesitate to reach out with questions. The Chicago trip in May 2022 is still in the works & will require a separate meeting in late October/early Fall. Please stay tuned! We are cautiously optimistic that our kids will have the opportunities to perform in live events again in 21-22! Thank you for joining us on this journey as we begin the "Start of Something New", Deidra Ross🎵 ![]()
