Dear Singers & Families,
The weather outside might be frightful, but in a performer's world...the show must go on! On Saturday, February 9th, (23) R-PMS Singers will be performing in District 7 Solo & Ensemble Festival held at Reeths-Puffer High School. Solo and Ensemble is a special musical event in which soloists and small groups of singers can sing for professional adjudicators and receive comments, encouragement and helpful tips on their performance skills. Groups even have the opportunity to earn and ratings/medals for participating! Singers from all over West Michigan will be traveling to Rocket City for this unique musical event. R-PMS is sending the Treble Makers as well as (9) Soloists :) Here is the schedule of R-P Participants for the day. Even if you're not participating in S&E, you are welcome to come and support peers and friends you may know from R-P and beyond!

Dear Choir Students & Families,
Hoping you're all safe and warm today! In the meantime, even a Snow Day can be an opportunity to learn...just in a different way. Though our event with Mr Lowenburg has been cancelled for the week, a historic world-wide event happened yesterday- Holocaust Remembrance Day. I recently came upon a document called, "Defiant Requiem". Here is a description of the movie: DEFIANT REQUIEM tells the little-known story of the Nazi concentration camp, Terezín. Led by imprisoned conductor Rafael Schächter, the inmates of Terezín fought back...with art and music. Through hunger, disease and slave labor, the Jewish inmates of Terezin hold onto their humanity by staging plays, composing opera and using paper and ink to record the horrors around them. This is a fascinating true story of imprisoned artist and musicians using the only thing they had to fight back against the horrors happening all around them. Years later these "Defiant Requiem" concerts are still being performed so that the world can remember and hopefully, NEVER AGAIN repeat this unspeakable tragedy. Here is a link to the Film description and YouTube trailer: https://www.defiantrequiem.org/film/description/ If you you are an Amazon Prime member, you can stream this film FOR FREE at home! Let me know if you watch it when we return to school! ~Mrs Ross Dear Choir Students & Families,

Mrs. Anderson (R-PMS Principal) & Mrs. Mitchelson (R-PMS Counselor) have just announced that our special night with Martin Lowenburg (Holocaust Survivor) has been rescheduled for Monday January 28th (evening) and Tuesday, January 29th (school-day). Though we were sad about having to reschedule from last October due to an unforeseen injury incurred by Mr. Lowenburg, the (2) dates of his visit will be just one day following "Holocaust Remembrance Day", which is a world-wide memorial to victims of this tragedy. What a timely visit and honor to connect in this way! As this is a collaborative event, several student leadership groups and staff members will facilitating the night. Choir Students will be expected to attend both the evening and morning events as they will be singing (2) pieces specially selected for this occasion. Realizing that the re-schedule came fairly late in the game, I am open to problem-solving solutions for students with schedule overlaps on Monday evening, 1/28. Students/parents should communicate a possible absence from the evening event on 1/28 no later than Friday, 1/18. Often, a compromise or solution can be found (carpooling, later arrival time). The evening event on Monday, 1/28 is for the entire community, so parents: please mark it on your calendars and share with your friends, family and community groups! The daytime event will take place the next morning 1/29 during school. Mrs. Anderson will be communicating out information about busing to school on 1/29 as the day will start at the RPHS Rocket Center. Please see the info below that includes: Dates, Schedule & Performance Attire. Please let me know if you have any questions. Sing-cerly, Mrs. Ross Here are the 2-Day Event Details: Date: Monday, January 28th (Community Presentation)
Choir Performance Attire: Performance attire for both events will be: R-PMS Choir T-Shirt OR Holocaust Remembrance T-Shirt (Calling All Colors Students), Best Blue Jeans (no holes or stains), Dark colored shoes (black/flats preferred). Please style hair away from face. Stud earrings are OK, but please no other jewelry or accessories. It is estimated that only 100,000 Holocaust survivors remain today. Please make every effort to attend this unforgettable event. Sing-cerely, Deidra Ross Email: [email protected] RPMS Choir blog: http://reeths-pufferchoirs.weebly.com/ Find us on Facebook: Reeths-Puffer Middle School Choirs Dear Choir Students & Families, A Representative from Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp will be making a visit to the Choir Classrooms this Wednesday, January 9th to give details about attending camp this summer including Scholarship Opportunities Students will not only hear about camp, but will also have the opportunity to participate in a very simple audition process for tuition scholarships. We've had students received anywhere from $300-$600 towards the cost of camp through these auditions. Auditioning for and receiving a Scholarship does not mean you have to attend camp and does not register you, but for many, receiving the cash boost from the outset provides great incentive to continue to registration process and finally, attend camp in the summer. Below you will find information I will be handing out in class tomorrow. There is a simple 1-page Scholarship Form that needs to be filled out and brought with students who wish to meet the Representative and participate in the audition experience Wednesday. Blue Lake is truly a treasured place where arts thrive and it's right up the road from us! I encourage all students to go for it and see what happens! I've never had a singer come away empty-handed, so it's worth it if you're even considering a summer at Blue Lake Please let me know if you have any questions Sing-cerely Mrs Ross ![]()
