Dear Parents and Students,
Fall is in full swing here in the R-PMS Choir & Theatre Arts room and our first performance event of the year is fast approaching! Our Fall Variety Show has a 3-fold purpose: (1) Our singers & actors have the opportunity to prepare, write and facilitate songs, acts & skits for public performance, (2) Parents and Community get a sneak peek at the many events ahead for their performing arts student in 2019-20 and (3) The ticket proceeds help us to purchase much needed classroom supplies including music, scripts and camp scholarships for the coming school year. It’s a win-win! R-PMS FALL YA’LL VARIETY SHOW EVENT DETAILS:

Attending adults, friends and family members will be charged normal admission if they wish to come into the stadium. Hope to see you there and GO ROCKETS! Please direct questions to Deidra Ross [email protected] 744-4721 Ext. 4401 R-P Choirs Blog: http://reeths-pufferchoirs.weebly.com/ PS: We do need PARENT VOLUNTEERS from 10AM-12:30PM on Friday, 10/4 and again the evening of the Game to help with Student Monitoring/Herding. Please email Mrs. Ross if you can help! Sorry for the “tease” but we think this year’s show can’t be “beat”! The 2020 R-PMS Musical will be….Hairspray JR!! * * * * * * * * * * * The 1950’s are out, the 60’s are IN, and change is in the…HAIR!! Hairspray JR. is a family-friendly musical piled bouffant high with laughter, romance, and deliriously tuneful songs. It’s adapted from the Original Broadway Version which won 8 TONY Awards including Best Musical! The show is set in 1962 Baltimore and comes with an important message: that acceptance comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors. This production has captured the hearts of millions because of it’s positive message and great music. Students in the Cast will be exploring ideas of civil rights and discrimination in context of a period of tremendous historical and social significance in the U.S….not to mention that cast members will also learn some of the best 60’s dances ever! Auditions aren’t until February but there will be several events in the coming weeks and months that will help educate cast hopefuls on the songs and story of Hairspray as well as the timeliness of the show’s message. Until then…hope to see you in February…cause you can’t stop the beat! Clue #4: One of the characters in this show is a mean girl, one of the characters is named after a non-human life form, and one of the show's actors once worked in the circus. Clue #3: This musical features a story line with a controversial romance. (dun dun duuuuuuuuun....) Dear Singers & Families,
For the past 9 years, students have enjoyed the opportunity to perform in a fully-staged, costumed and choreographed Musical Theatre Experience at R-PMS. Examples of past musicals include: Shrek, Lion King, Beauty & the Beast, Peter Pan and last year's…the Addams Family. Students that participate in the musical enjoy being trained by professional arts instructors and have the opportunity to perform in (3) Shows at the High School Rocket Center in late April 2020. A daily CLUE will be revealed each day this week leading up to the FINAL SHOW TITLE reveal on Friday, September 13th. Without further ado....here is clue #1: This year's musical features many teenage characters. Happy guessing! Mrs. Ross |
