Dear Choir Families,
As is tradition, the R-PMS Musical will be shown at the Cinema Carousel Theatre on Monday, June 10th at 7PM. When you’re performing in a show, you don’t have the luxury of being an audience member…so walk the red carpet and come out to the movies to see your show on the big screen! Night @ the Movies Details: R-PMS production of The Addams Family played on the Big Screen
The theatre seats approx. 140 people. Choir/Cast students & Musical staff will be seated first. Remaining seats are first come, first served. Please plan to pay Mrs. Ross at the door upon arrival. Students can bring extra money if they wish to purchase snacks and concessions. What a great way to celebrate an amazing performance and remember our special weekend one final time. Hope to see you there! Sing-cerely, Mrs. Ross [email protected] 744-4721 Ext. 4401 Our trip to Mackinac on May 20 & 21 is going to be very full!
Here is a list of suggested clothing items to pack:
Grand Hotel Dress Guide (also on their website) Since Grand Hotel is a resort, we want all guests to feel at ease and dress comfortably. General Daytime Attire Guidelines as set by the Grand Hotel: Casual resort clothing is appropriate. Prior to 6:30pm please no midriff baring tops, sweatpants, bare shoulders or cut-offs shorts (must be finger-tip length) for ladies. For gentleman- no sleeveless shirts, sweatpants, or cut-off shorts. Monday attire for R-PMS Students: The daytime attire will be our Choir Shirts, jeans and comfortable shoes as we will be going straight from Island Activities to our Choral Clinic with Dr. Blackstone. There will be a time to change into your evening attire before dinner. Monday attire for R-PMS Adult Chaperones: The daytime attire for Adult Chaperones will be casual. We do have some extra R-P Choir Shirts available for purchase for $10 each. This would be a great way to support the program. It’s also an easy and quick way to identify RP participants during activities. These will be available for purchase at the Mackinac Chaperone Meeting on Monday, May 13th at 7PM in the RPMS Main Commons. Limited Quantity & Sizes available. Monday Evening attire for Students and Adults: Every evening at Grand Hotel is a special occasion. After 6:30pm on Monday for Ladies (Students & Adult Chaperones): Ladies are required to wear dresses, skirts, blouses, dress sweaters and dress slacks for ladies are preferred. School Dress-Code will apply (covered shoulders, finger-tip length skirts & dresses). After 6:30pm on Monday for Gentleman (Students & Adult Chaperones): Gentleman are required to wear a suit/sport coat, necktie and dress pants, no denim or shorts. **The travel agent just contacted us and stressed that a Sport/Suit Coat must be worn by men. If you are a student borrowing RP Formal Wear, the best scenario for this would be a black suit jacket worn over it. If wearing your own attire, a Suit/Sport coat that coordinates would work best. EVENING ATTIRE NOTE FOR STUDENTS: You will be allowed to check-out your RPMS Choir Formal Attire to wear at the Dinner on Monday Evening instead of bringing your own if preferred. You are still responsible for the safe keeping and care of the outfit and special care should be taken when eating. You will check the attire back in when we return to R-P Middle School on Tuesday evening, May 22nd. Tuesday attire for R-PMS Students and Adults: You can wear casual clothing for the day. These Dress Code Guidelines are very strict and set by the Grand Hotel and Corporate Travel Service. Please plan ahead so you can have the best experience possible on the Island! Dear Cast & Chorus,
How can it be that opening night was already a WEEK ago? Hard to believe! Here are some show-related reminders & upcoming events:
Mrs. Ross Dear Parents and Students~
The 7th and 8th grade Choirs have been invited to perform at the R-PHS Pops Concert! This year-ending show is no ordinary concert! Filled with popular music, there will be dancing, costumes, special acts and MORE! This year’s show theme is “Legends” and will feature popular hits by artists such as: Frank Sinatra, Madonna, Paul McCartney, Queen, Aretha Franklin, John Lennon, Dolly Parton, Neil Diamond, Elvis, and more! “Middle School Night” has become a tradition that our students look forward to each year as it gives them an opportunity to connect with our High School program….especially for the many 8th graders planning to continue their musical experience in High School Choir! R-PHS Pops Concert with special guests: R-PMS Choirs When: Thursday, May 16th 7PM Where: R-PHS Rocket Center Auditorium Concert Schedule:
Where is the Concert? The concert will be held in our beautiful state-of the art Rocket Center Auditorium. Please park in the lot off of Roberts Rd. and enter by the Auditorium. Who is in the Concert? All (4) HS Choral Ensembles with our (130) 7th and 8th grade Singers & Musical Cast Members as featured guests! Who can come to the program and is there a cost to attend? Parents, family, friends and community members are all welcome to come out and enjoy and evening of singing. There is an entrance charge at the door:
Addams Family Show T-Shirts, Black Choir Pants & Shoes (Boys), Black leggings and Ballet Flats or Jazz Shoes (Girls). Concert Performance and Class Grade: As Choir is a performance-based class, concert attendance is a mandatory portion of a student’s participation in the RP Choir program. Additionally, all dates were given in September along with a Parent/Student Contract regarding class information. In the event that a student cannot attend a pre-schedule performance or concert, the following procedures will be used to determine student grade: Excused Absence: Illness, Family Emergency Excused Absence Requirements: Parent phone call, email or note explaining the absence and the completion of (1) of the following make-up assignments (Student Choice): A concert reflection paper (after viewing concert DVD) or Concert Interview. Additionally, absent students will be required to sing a small portion of a song or two from the concert privately with the instructor to demonstrate their preparedness for the missed performance. Unexcused Absence: Skipping concert, no ride (teacher can help with transportation issues), Lack of parental communication in advance. Unexcused absences result in an automatic 0 for the performance grade and cannot be made up. Since performance is 50% of a student's grade in choir, absent students are required to submit make-up work in lieu of attending. Please be sure to make arrangements for your student to attend the concert. Thanks & I’m looking forward to a wonderful musical experience with your student &family!
