PERFORMANCE/GRADE As a performance-based class, concerts are a required portion of a student’s participation in the RP Choir program. A Performance Calendar was given in August along with a Parent/Student Contract regarding class information. In the event that a student cannot attend a pre-schedule performance or concert, the following procedures will be used to determine student grade: Excused Absence: Illness, Family Emergency Excused Absence Requirements: Parent phone call, email or note explaining the absences and the completion of (1) of the following make-up assignments (Student Choice): A concert reflection paper (after viewing concert DVD) or a Concert interview. All absent students will need to schedule a time to meet privately with Directors to sing a small portion of Concert songs to demonstrate learning/preparedness. Unexcused Absence: Skipping concert, no ride (directors can help with transportation issues), Lack of parental communication in advance. Unexcused absences result in an automatic 0 for the performance grade & cannot be made up. Please be sure to make arrangements for your student to attend the concert. Thanks & we’re looking forward to a wonderful musical experience with your student & family! Let us help you "Deck the Hall!" this year & thanks for supporting our Rocket Singers & Thespians! Deidra Ross (RPMS choir & Theatre Arts)🎵 -- The MS & RPI Choir students had a "fa-boo-lous" time at our annual Monster Mash Skating Bash!
Special shoutout to Jumpin Jupiter Skate Center for hosting this fantastic event! The RP Choir program wishes everyone a safe & happy Halloween Week! Dear Singers & Families,
For many years, we have been blessed with the time & talents of a couple of gifted Choir moms who have overseen the care & distribution of our formal wear for MS Choir. This has included: measuring/fitting students to gowns/suits, hemming/repair & keeping inventory of our stock. These ladies have served us well, but now have grown children/grandchildren & are moving into a new season of life. All this to say...we are looking for a new regime of capable hands who love kids & are interested in moving into this very important role! The Lead Seamstress role is a project-based paid position that can either be manned by 1 lead person, or, as we've done in the past, 2 people working in tandem (teamwork makes the dream work). Please read the Job Description HERE and SHARE away! We will need to turn our attention to the holiday concert very soon & are hoping to get started as soon as we can. If not you, feel free to share this opportunity or email me with connection ideas. Thanks so much for your help! Deidra Ross On Sunday, October 22nd, the R-P Middle School Choir & Theatre Arts students hosted the 3rd Annual “Taste of the Arts Food Truck Festival” at R-PMS! The fundraising event featured performances by nearly 200 R-P singers & actors as well as ten local Food Trucks & other supportive small businesses.
Proceeds from the event will help to purchase essential supplies such as sheet music & scripts, uniforms, instructional staff stipends & special event scholarships for the coming school year. Our program theme this year is “Find Your Voice”. Middle School is a time for students to figure out what they're interested in, what they're good at and how they can contribute to the world in a positive way using their time & talents. Thank you, Rocket Community for supporting our students & we look forward to sharing our voices in the coming school year! Dear Parents & Students,
Fall is in full swing here in the Choir & Theatre Arts room & our 3rd annual kick-off event is fast approaching! Our Taste of the Arts Event has a 2-fold purpose: (1) Our singers & actors have the opportunity to perform for our Rocket Community & (2) The admission & food truck proceeds help us to cover costs associated with running the Choir & Theatre program: staffing, supplies such as scripts & music, & trip/camp scholarships for the coming school year. It’s a Performance, Fundraiser & Fall Carnival in ONE! TASTE OF THE ARTS EVENT DETAILS:

Students will be expected to attend the Performance Portion of the event (approx. 1:30-3PM including check-in/warm-up/performance). Following the performance, students will either go to their assigned volunteer posts for the remainder of the event, or, can enjoy the festivities until they choose to leave.
