What physical safety precautions will be taken in choir classes?
What Social-Emotional needs are being considered in Choir?
The Directors understand that there might be some hesitancy as we re-enter school. We are emerging from an unprecedented time. We haven’t been in a school structure in
6 months & as exciting as it is to come back to school, we are well aware that things will look and feel different.
In addition to this...let face it...sharing your singing voice is a very vulnerable act for most of us…”What if my voice cracks? What if I sing off-key? What if I forget the words?”.
The aim of Middle School Choir is to help students “Find their Voice”. Singing is a skill, much like a sport, a trade, learning to ride a bike, etc. A lot of care will be taken to meet our singers where they are at when they arrive on Sept. 8th. We will be growing & learning together...in a place of acceptance & community...for all.
“The fact that people can make beautiful music is less significant than the fact the music can make beautiful people.” - Cheryl Lavender
- Hand sanitizer will be provided and its use encouraged before, during & after class.
- District approved Air Purifiers equipped with HEPA filters will be used while indoors.
- Masks will be required while in school and that includes while singing.
We are looking into purchasing or having special Singing Masks made for our students. - Social distancing with altered singing positions when rehearsing & performing.
- Outdoor rehearsal spaces will be utilized on nice days!
- Students will be responsible to bring their Folder, Music & Materials to and from class each day. (We will no longer store folders in the classroom)
- Directors & Students will sanitize shared materials & equipment as needed.
